Day 2 - City Tour - Opera House - Trocadero - Luxembourg Gardens - Champs Elysees - Louvre Museum

After breakfast we start our tour of the countless sights of the City of Light. We will first admire the famous building of the Opera of Charles Garnier, with the facade decorated with busts of great composers, we will continue to the most luxurious square of Paris (Place Vendôme), built by Louis XIV, with the Hotel Ridge and the column of Napoleon and , going down the rue d’Opéra, we will pass through the courtyard of the Louvre, where we will see the Arch of the Carousel and the famous glass pyramids, which allow natural light to enter the entrance area of the Museum, and we will end up on the Seine.

Crossing the right bank of the river, we will meet the wooden bridge of the artists, which ends at the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Mazarin, the Place Chatelet, the old palace, today the seat of the Supreme Court of France, we will head towards the Place Bastille with the impressive building of the new Paris Opera and we will pass on the left bank of the Seine, in front of the Museum of Natural History. On this side of the river we will distinguish the two small islands, Saint Louis and Ile de la Cite (where Paris was “born”), we will be next to the damaged building of the Church of Notre Dame (which unfortunately we cannot approach, due to the disastrous fire that left the Temple without a roof a few years ago), we will continue to the famous Sorbonne University, passing by the Latin Quarter and Saint Severino, we will see the Pantheon and walk through the Luxembourg Gardens, another green lung for the city, dominated by the eponymous palace of Marie de Medici (current seat of the French Senate).

Immediately afterwards, on the bus again, we will pass in front of the Saint German and two of the most famous cafes of the city, the Deux Magots of the artists and the de Flore of the existentialists, crossing one of the most expensive streets of Paris, the Rue de Bonaparte, to end up next to the Seine again. On our way we will see the building of the Parliament, the Palace of the Armies, where Napoleon the Great is buried and we will end up at the Trocadero, with the amazing view of the Eiffel Tower, the Field of Mars and the Military School, where we will stop for photos . Continuing, we will admire the Arc de Triomphe, we will travel the famous avenue of the Champs Elysées with its magnificent buildings of the 18th and 19th centuries, reaching Omonia Square with the Luxor Obelisk and, after seeing the Church of Agia Magdalene, we will end up in the area of Opera, where there will be free time to visit the interior of this monumental building, the complexes of Galleries Lafayette and Printemps department stores, and also to sit down for a drink in the famous Café de la Paix.

Then there will be an optional visit and guided tour of the Louvre museum. We will see in the Greek wing the Venus of Milos, the Victory of Samothrace, the “Centauromachia”, part of the front of the Parthenon, the marble statue of Athena and other ancient Greek and Roman statues. Moving on, we will see Da Vinci’s most famous painting, the famous Gioconda, among other Renaissance paintings (Veronese, Titian, Tintoretto, etc.) and the Romantic era, with David’s unique creations (Coronation of Napoleon) and the philhellenic Delacroix (Massacre of Chios). Finishing, we will walk towards the Palais Royal, another very important and historical building of Paris, built by Cardinal Richelieu, the current seat of the Council of State. We will pass through the inner courtyard of the building and the gardens, where we will really feel like we are in another era. Free time and return to the hotel for some rest.

For the evening we recommend a walk on the Champs Elysées. Start from the Arch of Triumph and go down the illuminated street, heading towards Omonia Square.

Day 4 - Paris walking tour (Bastille Square – Marais Quarter – Latin Quarter)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will take advantage of the time we have for a last walk in the heart of Paris. We will start from a place where a very important event in the history of the city unfolded, the Bastille Square. The prison located here was a symbol of arbitrariness and oppression and was torn down by the rebellious people of Paris on July 14, 1789. The date of the fall of the Bastille, which marked the end of royal arbitrariness for France, was established from 1880 as a national holiday of France. Also, here we will see the building of the Opéra de la Bastille, with a capacity of 5000 people. Afterwards, we will wander through the medieval traditional district of the Marais, the oldest residential area in the city, where the Jewish quarter is located, the 17th-century Place des Vosges, with the house-museum of Victor Hugo, but also the Rue de Francs Bourgeois, with the imposing mansions of the French aristocrats, some of which are now museums, such as Carnavalet and Lamoignon. Also in the area is the Picasso Museum. We will end up in the Beaubourg area, where the famous Center Georges Pompidou Museum of Modern Art is located. Free time.

Day 5 - Full day excursion to Normandy - Honfleur - Deauville - Trouville

Breakfast at our hotel and optional departure for Normandy. Who has not heard the name of this region, firstly because of the historical landing of the Second World War and additionally because of the beauty of the small picturesque towns. After passing by the capital of Rouen, we will head to the first city we will visit, Honfleur. A picturesque fishing village, as if taken from a fairy tale, full of colors and flowers. Popular with impressionist painters such as Monet and Boudin who were inspired by the changing light and picturesque harbor quays, the city retains a traditional beauty with public buildings, squares, streets and houses strongly reminiscent of other eras as its architecture has not it has changed a lot since the 16th century. The port “Vieux Bassin”, i.e. old wharf, “hidden” on the south side of the Seine estuary, dates from the 17th century and the narrow, multi-storey buildings with their wooden frames create a picturesque setting. The Musee de la Marine houses a collection of model ships and nautical works, and there are also museums dedicated to two of the city’s most famous residents, artist Eugene Boudin and musician and composer Erik Satie.

After a tour of narrow streets with centuries-old buildings and many galleries and ateliers, since we are in an artist town, in the harbor, the wooden church of Agia Ekaterini, free time to discover its hidden secrets. Through a unique route through the countryside of the region, we end up in the beautiful and cosmopolitan Deauville. City, which, stretched lazily by the sea, was created in the 19th century by the Duc de Mornay with the aim of being “the kingdom of elegance”. It was a favorite vacation spot of the country’s aristocracy and today it is a cosmopolitan resort of the French north. The retro atmosphere, impressive mansions, award-winning restaurants are some of the reasons why the city is a magnet for the international jet set. The former quiet fishing village is now a cosmopolitan spa town, with its 1400 meter long beach, offering moments of relaxation and plenty of dips in the cool waters. On our tour we will see the facilities of the film festival that takes place during the summer, the coast with the strong effect of ebb and tide, the casino that was opened in 1864 and then installed in a new building in 1912, a miniature of the famous brother of Monte Carlo and the Town Hall. We will then board the coach and drive through Trouville, a favorite city of the Impressionists. We will take the Cote Fleurie and through a green route we will return to Paris and our hotel.

For the evening, we recommend a metro ride to the bustling area of Beaubourg, where the famous Museum of Modern Art, Center Georges Pompidou, is located. In the pedestrian streets of the area there are many bistrots, cafes, bars, restaurants for every taste and age. It is one of the most popular entertainment spots for Parisians.

Day 6 - Paris – Free time for shopping – Return flight

Enjoy the metropolitan side of the French capital, the glittering boutiques of Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and Avenue Montaigne or if you want a warm fragrant French coffee, sit “Avenue”, where you will meet the most beautiful people of the city.
