Day 1 - Flight to Barcelona - City tour

Meet at the airport and fly to Catalonia’s capital and Spain’s second largest city, Barcelona. After our arrival we will be transferred to our hotel and start our first walking (evening) tour of the beautifully lit city with the largest port in the Mediterranean. Our starting point will be the historic center and we will continue to the Gothic quarter, also known as Barrio Gotico, with its beautiful stone alleys and the impressive Cathedral of Agia Eulalia. Then we will head to Isidre Nonel Square and the impressive wall decorated with 4,000 ceramics. All together the tiles, which have photos printed on them, create a mosaic that depicts a kiss from a distance. “The world begins with every kiss” is the motto inscribed on the plaque of the project, which was created on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the liberation of the city. We will continue on the shopping street Porta del Angel. We suggest you end your evening in one of the dozens of tapas bars that serve all kinds of snacks along with beer or wine.

Day 2 - Tour of Barcelona

Our today’s tour will start from the imposing church of the Sagrada Familia, which we will see around the perimeter. The church is a symbol of Barcelona and the most important work of Antonio Gaudi. It is among the most complex and time-consuming architectural projects in the world, and it took the architect 43 years to lay the foundations of this monumental work. On our bus route we will cross the famous Passeig de Gracia Avenue, Barcelona’s Champs Elysees, with its impressive “modernist” buildings, classy shops and good restaurants. There we will admire the two most famous houses of the great architect Antonio Gaudi, Casa Battlo and Casa Mila. In addition, we will have the opportunity to see houses of other important architects of the time, such as Lluis Domenech I Montaner, Puig I Cadafalch, Enric Sagnier and many others. We will continue to the Olympic Village, the Olympic Port and Barceloneta, the old fishing village, where at your leisure you will be able to taste the famous paella. Going up to Montjuik hill (Jewish hill), we will see the Olympic Stadium, where almost all the facilities of the 1992 Olympiad are still there. Our next stop is the Spanish village, which is a miniature of Spain and was built for the world exhibition of 1929. Our tour will end in the center of the city with the largest and most commercial square – Plaza Cataluna, while we will also reach the famous pedestrian street Las Ramblas, with its flower market, outdoor artists and painters and its endless liveliness. Continuing on the Ramblas, we will see the Rambla Canaletes, famous for the fountain with the coat of arms of Catalonia. Legend has it that anyone who tastes its water will surely return here. Walking down La Ramblas, we will see the Plaza Real, a classic mansion square, where you can enjoy your coffee. For the afternoon, we recommend an optional guided tour of Gaudí’s Barcelona. We will see the famous Parque Guel, an example of the harmony of nature and architecture, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We continue our tour to the remarkable building of Gaudi Casa Mlila (La Pedrera). Our next stop, the historic center of the city and the narrow streets of the El Born district, where we will see the Church of Santa Maria del Mar, a unique example of Gothic architecture. then we will see Sant Pau Hospital, the largest modernist complex in the world, the work of the great architect Lluis Domenech I Montaner and a UNESCO monument. Return to the hotel. In the evening, we suggest you watch a flamenco show and let yourself go to its intense and passionate rhythm. (Cost of optional afternoon tour: €35 for adults, €25 for children. Entrance tickets are not included).

Leaving the museum you can also enjoy the jewelry exhibition, which consists of 37 unique pieces of jewelry designed by the multi-talented painter. We continue to Girona, picturesque and built on the banks of the river Onar. There, we will admire the beautiful painted houses, the city’s Cathedral and walk through the former Jewish quarter, where the Sephardim – the Jews of Spain – lived.
