Itinerary

Day 1 - Glorious Athens

The day begins with half day walking city tour. The center of Athens is full of world renowned ancient treasures: the Acropolis, the Parthenon  the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike and the amazing Acropolis Museum. Enjoy the city’s modern sights such as Constitution Square Syntagma square, the House of Parliament, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier and the National Library. Your afternoon will be free to explore Plaka, Ermou, one of the busiest shopping street and of course taste a famous Souvlaki!

Day 2 - Athens - Mystical Delphoi

A magical journey to famous Delphoi,  earth’s navel according to ancient Greeks, where we will admire the Ancient Oracle, the temple of Zeus, the ancient stadium and theater, and of course the Delphoi museum to marvel at the famous “Charioteer” one of the best bronze statues ever built! Leaving the mystical vibes behind, we will visit  one of the best known winter resorts in Greece, Arachova. In this traditional and at the same time modern city with altitude of 1000 meters,  we stop for a coffee and a traditional Greek lunch with Ouzo. Return to Athens and free time.

Day 3 - Athens - Spectacular Sounio

This day is dedicated to one of the most famous Athens attractions, Sounio. It is the southest part of Athens where you can have a breathtaking experience of the Greek sunset. Cape Sounion is a noted site, because of the ruins of an ancient Greek temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea in classical mythology. The remains are perched on the headland, surrounded on three sides by the sea. The ruins bear the deeply engraved name of English Romantic poet Lord Byron (1788–1823).

Day 4 - Epidavros - Tolo - Nafplio

We depart from Athens to make a small tour of the Peloponnese. First stop, one of the most famous ancient theaters in the world, Epidavros. It’s unique acoustic especially for the years it was built (4th Century BC) and the plays from the ancient tragedies made it known in the whole world. Next we are visiting Tolo, a traditional village in Greece where it always found itself in the middle of battles and Crusades. The day ends in picturesque Nafplion, the first Capital of Greece. The Castle with the 857 stairs from the town to the fortress, the famous Bourtzi an island in the middle of the city’s harbor, the trademark of Naflpio await you for a visit. Spend the night in Nafplio.

Day 5 - Nafplio - Mycenae - Ancient Olympia

First thing in the morning we are visiting the archaeological site of Mycenae a UNESCO World Heritage site. Admire the Cyclopean Walls, the Lion’s Gate, the Royal Tombs, including Agamemnon’s and Clytemnestra’s, and the Treasury of Atreus, a magnificent 14th-century B.C. structure! Later in the day we are visiting the famous Ancient Olympia the place that first  Olympic Games took place in 776 B.C, lies in the lush valley formed by the Alfios river. There is a temple of Zeus, a temple of Hera , the shrine of Pelops (one of the oldest in the sanctuary), the Council house where the athletes took the Olympic oath, the Treasury houses, the Gymnasium and the Palestra where they used to exercise for a month prior to the Games. Finally the stadium, where the marble blocks are still in position. Our day ends at ancient Olympia or at kiparisia, a traditional Greek village where we will stay for the night, only 20 kms from the ancient Olympia.

Day 6 - Ancient Olympia - Majestic Meteora - Byzantine Thessaloniki

Meteora offer a unique and impressive scenery of ageless monasteries, containing priceless historical and religious treasures, standing between Earth and Sky atop huge rocks. The place can be described only through videos or high quality images so it would be a good idea to search it online to prepare yourselves! Lunch in Litochoro, the village in the shade of Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece and the home of the 12 Gods. Our day ends in Thessaloniki, the second biggest city of Greece.

Day 7 - Thessaloniki - Vergina

Today we are visiting Vergina. Home of the Macedonian Kingdom and the place where Alexander’s the Great father body lies. Royal tombs, the royal palace and the new museum await you to offer you an exciting trip to the past.   Upon return to Thessaloniki,  we will admire the Byzantine and Ottoman ruins, churches and sights. The famous White Tower and the unique coastline of the city is offers a relaxing walk in the city. In the afternoon there will be free time for shopping in the city’s famous markets and in the night you can experience the famous nightlife of the city.

Day 8 - Thessaloniki

In the last day in Greece, you will be transferred from your hotel to Macedonia International Airport according to your flight details.
