For those who do not know about it the Thessaloniki Night Half Marathon is an endurance race and the little brother of the International Thessaloniki Marathon “Alexander The Great”. As its name suggests, it is a race of the half distance of a marathon (42.195 m) that is 21.095 m. So the Marathon as the Half Marathon too, are races that use the road systems and they usually take place within cities. The number of the participants in the Thessaloniki Night Half Marathon races has increased over the years, making it thus one of the most popular endurance races. The most important reason for this popularity is the length of the whole distance which is a challenge of 21km in total.

Thus, according to the reports of the World Federation of Athletics (IAAF, AIMS), since 2008, the International Night Half Marathon of Thessaloniki is the fastest growing marathon race in Europe. The MEAS TRITON Thessaloniki organization was licensed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and it is under the auspices of the Athletics Federation of SEGAS, the Greek National Committee for UNESCO and it has developed collaborations with a wide range of sport institutions and institutional supporters in order to organize the most highlighted event in Northern Greece with high athletic, social, cultural, enviromental, touristic and historical significance. Last but not least, this Marathon race is an excellent worldwide ambassador of Thessaloniki, of Macedonia and of Greece overall.
